Commercial Carpet Installation Guideline

For best results, review the product and product specific guidelines prior to indoor installation. Vogue carpets will not be responsible for improper installation and installation of visual manufacturing defected tiles.

Failure to follow guide- lines may result in limiting warranty coverage.

Site Conditions:

Conditioning prior to installation is important for all products. For this reason, the job site must be completely sealed (all exterior windows and doors properly installed) before beginning the installation process or before any floor preparations are performed.

Before installation, the site and floors must be complied with the requirements stated below for at least 48 hours before, during, and continuously after the final installation.

The required pre-installation moisture and alkalinity tests should be performed by a qualified independent testing consultant. Vogue carpets will not be responsible for failures, problems, or damage arising from high moisture, high alka- linity or acidity, or other subfloor conditions.

Floor Preparation:

Substrate must be structurally sound, clean, level and dry. Substrate must be free of dust, dirt, oil, grease, paint, curing agents, concrete sealers, adhesives, loosely bonded toppings, loose particles and any other substance or condition that may prevent or reduce adhesion.

Raised Access Flooring panels must be smooth, level, secure and free of any material that will affect the adhesive bond. Carpet tiles must be installed offset from access panel seams. Gaps between panels must not exceed 1/16 inch or (1.6mm).

Installing Your Carpet Tiles

Carpet Tile Preparation:

Be sure the style, pattern and color match the specifications for each area of your installation. Check to confirm that you have the right quantity and correct installation method.

Carpet tiles must be adequately protected from soil, dust, moisture and other contaminants and stored on a flat surface. The stacked cartons should be no more than 5 for a long period if overlapped.

All carpet tiles must be removed from the cartons and allowed to adjust to the job site temperature for 48 hours prior to installation.

All carpet tiles should be carefully inspected for damage or defects prior to installation.

Vogue carpets will not be responsible for any cost associated with replacement or repair as a result of damaged or defec- tive tiles being installed when said damage or defects were identifiable prior to installation.

Adhesives Preparation:

Recommend to use solvent environment-friendly glue. Use a full spread adhesive application. Allow the adhesive to dry completely before installing the carpet tile. Installing into wet adhesive will result in a permanent bond and may cause the carpet tile to bubble.

Floor Layout :

Make a diagram with exact measurements of the area(s) where carpet will be installed. It is wise to always locate the seams in the areas of light- est traffic. Indicate all windows, doors, furniture, and unusual angles. Divide the room into four quadrants and snap a chalk line. Make sure quadrants meet at right angles.

Use the 3-4-5 triangle method to make sure the first line is perpendicular to the second line. Check the distance from each center line to its parallel wall and determine how many tiles will be required (Fig. 1).

Carpet Installation :

For best results, it is recommended to carry out installation according to the specified installation methods of each products. All Vogue carpets have directional arrows on the back to help follow the installation meth- ods. Start from the intersection point in the center of the floor. Install the tiles in one quadrant using the chalk lines as guidelines.

Fill in the area between the two chalk lines using the stair step method. Continue to install tiles in a stair step or pyramid pattern, starting at the center point. Check to make sure the tiles are properly aligned at edges during the installation. Fit the tiles tightly together by sliding them together and press into the adhesive (Fig. 2).

In principle, it is not recommended to install in the same continuous space with the same product of different batches, except for the confirmed acceptable batch differences.

Always cut tiles from the back. Using one tile as a reference tile, score a line on the back of the tile that is to be cut. Cut the tile along the reference line, being careful not to cut through the installed tile below it.

Always secure cut or partial tiles with releasable adhesive or double sided tape. The square of the cut carpet should not be less than half of the square of common carpet tile. Otherwise it will not be easy to secure it.

Recommend to do first and thorough carpet cleaning after installation. Please check more details in Vogue carpets maintenance guideline.

Keep the room ventilated and use air-exchanger if necessary. For best results, temperatures should remain between 15.5°C and 29.5°C and site humidity should not fall below 40%.

Place plywood over the carpet when heavy objects are moved.

Non-staining building material paper can be placed on the carpet tile to protect it if additional building construc- tion activity is taking place. Do not use plastic sheeting which will trap moisture.

Use protective chair mats under chairs and castors. This will prevent excessive wear to the face of the carpet.
